A resolution introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by Rep. Randy Kuhl (R-NY) proposes that the first week of June each year be designated ‘National Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator Awareness Week.'
The bill names the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross as two organizations that would prepare public awareness and training campaigns to be implemented that week. MEDIC FIRST AID and ASHI have contacted Congressman Kuhl’s office in support of the resolution and have requested that our names be added to it as participants.
All MEDIC FIRST AID and ASHI Instructors can lend their support to the resolution by contacting their congressional representatives and encouraging them to support H. Con. Res. 215. Most representatives can now be easily contacted by email from their website. Let them know you are a MEDIC FIRST AID and/or ASHI Instructor and as such, you appreciate the importance of this resolution.
Currently, the resolution has a number of additional sponsors from a variety of states but Congressman Kuhl is hoping to obtain many more. Click here to see the list of H. CON. Res. 215 cosponsors. If your representative isn’t on this list, click here to find your representative and tell them you want them to support H. CON. Res. 215.
