MEDIC FIRST AID International held groundbreaking ceremonies for its future offices in the Westec Business Park in Eugene, Oregon, at 11:00 am on Monday June 14.
Local dignitaries, including Jim Torrey, mayor of Eugene and Dave Hauser, president of the Eugene Chamber of Commerce, were in attendance to witness the symbolic first turn of the topsoil for a local company that has expanded over the past 26 years to become a significant international presence in the health and safety industry.
“MEDIC FIRST AID’s roots run deep in Eugene, and we want to express our appreciation to the community for its support. We’re all excited to make the move to our new building, which marks our continued commitment to the Eugene area,” said Bill Clendenen, president of MEDIC FIRST AID.
The building will combine the company’s warehouse and office facilities, currently housed separately. Targeted at more than 16,000 square feet, the facilities, designed by Eugene design firm Bineham Design, will feature, in addition to a spacious office environment, a large production studio for the in-house print and video production departments, as well as a state-of-the-art warehouse facility. Financing was handled by Pacific Continental bank.
Local building company BCI, will begin preparing the site for development early next week. The offices will be ready for business in spring of 2005. Chris Bennett, chief executive officer of MEDIC FIRST AID, hopes the local community will come take a look. “MEDIC FIRST AID is a tremendous resource for the community, and our expansion will help us better serve area businesses. As we continue to grow in 2004 and into 2005, we want to improve the local awareness of our first aid and safety training services.”
